Statkraft Markets GmbH opened its office in Düsseldorf in 1999 with a primary focus on renewable energy management and has since then developed into a continental hub for customer energy solutions and trading.
Statkraft Markets GmbH opened its Düsseldorf office in 1999, initially focusing on renewable energy management. Since then, it has grown into Statkraft’s continental hub for customer energy solutions and energy trading.
Statkraft has operated ten hydropower plants (nine run-of-river and one pumped-storage), five gas-fired power stations (two in cold reserve and one jointly owned) and two biomass plants in Germany since 2009, with their operations optimised by the Düsseldorf dispatch centre.
The company expanded its generation footprint with its first solar plant in Germany in 2018 and added 39 onshore wind farms to its portfolio in 2021.
Today, around 400 employees work from Düsseldorf, supporting operations in more than 20 countries. Their core activities include:

providing market access for third parties, making Statkraft the largest direct marketer in Germany

delivering tailored energy solutions and supplying green power to industrial and commercial customers and energy suppliers

Statkraft Markets GmbH continues to drive the growth of renewable energy in Germany, including through power purchase agreements for both subsidy-free and post-EEG wind and solar projects.
